Day Centre Lead Manager

We are recruiting a Day Centre Manager for the Hub in Sale, Greater Manchester. You will be providing a range of dynamic and person centred opportunities for people with Learning Disabilities and additional support needs, people with autism, people that can challenge service provision, and also services for adults with Physical Disabilities. This will entail leading and managing support teams within the Community Hub including: Â

You will shape services for people and ensure that a range of quality opportunities are provided within the allocated budget.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- To be responsible for the provision of day opportunities for adults with enhanced support needs who access the Key Care & Support Community Hub provision. This will entail working with local community opportunities and engaging with voluntary sector partners. It will require close working with the Manager for Community and Outreach Services and when necessary covering that post.
- Development of all policies and procedures ensuring they are relevant to the changing environment in day service provision.
- Lead forums and working groups relevant to service development.
- Be responsible for the agreement of appropriate packages of care and support for each person, including timely reviews. This will entail working closely with individual care management and health teams, carers and other stakeholders. Plans, reviews and opportunities should reflect the agreed Life Plans for each person.
- Ensure that a range of appropriate, quality opportunities and therapies are provided ; encourage creative development of new ways of providing these in an environment where resources are limited without detracting from the quality of opportunity provided.
- Develop and lead the staff groups through a radical change in how day opportunities are provided; support staff as they work more flexibly and in a person centred way. Encourage and enable collaborative working with volunteers and partner agencies.
- Ensure that the available budget for day services is distributed appropriately.
- Deputise for the Manager of Community and Outreach services as and when required.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage teams, including a team of therapists. Be responsible for the deployment of staff to meet person centred needs.
- Liaise closely with care management and health teams and any other relevant professionals to ensure packages of care and support are appropriate, value for money, have positive outcomes and are reviewed regularly.
- Ensure that person centred reviews are carried out for each person, evaluating their progress and the effectiveness of their programme. Ensure that adequate notice is given and that the appropriate people in the persons network of support are invited.
- Ensure that activities and opportunities provided contribute to the overall agreed progression Life plan, and are an enjoyable leisure activity provided in a safe setting.
- Lead positively, encourage and manage the use of building space by each user groups. Where necessary resolve conflicts between users, and ensure that where appropriate income is generated from use of the buildings and opportunities created.
- Be available, as part of an on-call rota to respond to phone queries of an urgent nature regarding the overall service for Key Care & Support, buildings, and to staff who are working out of hours.
- Lead and manage volunteers and staff from other groups who offer support and opportunities to people we support at the Community Hub
- Lead on liaising with carers and other advocates.
- Be responsible for managing the agreed budget, ensuring that expenditure remains within the set limits.
- Ensure that appropriate travel support programmes are in place, and that transport arrangements are implemented safely.
- Take overall responsibility for Health and Safety arrangements at Key Care & Support Community Hub.
- Be part of the Service Provision Management Team.
- Ensure that relevant information is collated and analysed on a regular basis, and provided to corporate colleagues as required.
- Oversee an effective Information Centre.
- Provide leadership in a learning environment where staff are encouraged to develop; be aware of good practice elsewhere, both locally and nationally.
- Ensure that Policies and Procedures are adhered to and that staff are aware of their responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- A Management Qualification
- Extensive experience of working in a related social care or health setting, including substantial experience at managerial level.
- Extensive experience of working with external agencies as partners
- Substantial experience of managing budgets
- Experience in recruiting and managing staff and volunteers
- Experience in arranging transport for customers
- Advanced knowledge of legislation relating to social care provision in general and disability legislation in particular
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and local policies and procedures in this area.
- Advanced knowledge of Safeguarding Adults policies and practice.
- Understanding of the social model of disability
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with Learning Difficulties with complex needs

What will I be doing?

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
To provide a key person to lead and develop the staff team and to people receiving support by adopting a person centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices.
OVERALL OBJECTIVES
- To assist the Branch Manager/ Deputy Registered Manager/ Shift Leader in the resource planning, coaching and mentoring of a team of staff and co-ordinating the daily provision of support and activities for customers to ensure the delivery of a high quality, responsive and efficient service.
- To provide care and support to people to enable them to maintain their tenancies and to achieve their aspirations for independent living.
- This job description is generic and applies to all Support Workers. The duties will be determined by the individual needs of the customers being supported. The context in which support is provided may vary according to the users’ living environment and may include site-based support, housing management and support, housing management only or floating support only.
- Depending upon location, the support provided may be to people with physical or sensory disabilities or people with learning disabilities or people with mental health related support needs or a combination of these.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES
- Care & support services
- Identify individual support needs and through consultation and agreement with the team (and, where appropriate, their Care Manager/relevant professionals/family), devise and implement suitable support plans to ensure that identified support needs are met.
- Encourage and support people to live as full and independently as possible within the local community, providing information, emotional, organisational and practical support and training as appropriate.
- To carry out risk assessments as and when necessary due to the changing needs and aspirations of users.
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Organise and provide appropriate support for people preparing to move-on to greater independence, including support through the move and resettlement into their new home.
- Contribute to the protection of people we support from abuse and support people when they are distressed.
- Liaise with other housing, health and social care professionals, benefits, welfare and advocacy agencies, and other landlords as well as family members, as appropriate.
- To lead the support and care as designated by the Branch Manager/ Deputy Registered Manager/ Shift Leader
- Administer medication in line with medication policy and the individual’s care plans, ensure medication is ordered and all medication being dispensed by staff has per MAR (medication administration record) with clear guidance on administration requirements
- Support individuals with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices enabling them to take control of their own lives, increasing independence.
- Ensure all personal care tasks are carried out in line with the needs, wishes and preferences of the individual, following the care plan.
- Support people to take an active role in the community by accessing local facilities and wider community resources in the spirit of social inclusion.
- Support the development of person centred planning, ensuring each individual’s plan has meaningful and achievable goals.
- Support people to develop and expand social networks and friendships.
- To support people through the transition process.
- Work as a keyworker/ co keyworker to coordinate and develop the support to the individual including Health Action Plans and Person Centred Plans.
- Contribute to/attend reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Work with individuals to promote healthy lifestyles; by liaising with local health care professionals.
- Work in partnership with care managers and other professionals to maximise quality of life for individuals.
- Develop positive relationships with family and carers.
- Work in line with the company’s Adult/child Protection and Prevention of Abuse Policy and Whistle Blowing Policy to ensure that people are kept safe at all times.
- Ensure the security of the building and the safety of the people living in their home

- Managing services
- To assist the care coordinator in the coaching and mentoring of a team of staff, co-ordinating the daily provision of support and activities for service users, ensuring the delivery of a high quality, responsive and efficient service.
- To participate in devising staff rotas in conjunction with the Branch Manager/ Deputy Registered Manager/Shift Leader to ensure appropriate staffing levels are in place for a safe working environment.
- To be responsible for and actively support the regular assessment of individual needs through key working and support planning processes.
- To support the efficient use of resources within the service, monitoring and controlling spending within agreed budgets.
- To assist the manager in effectively managing voids as and when required.
- To be jointly responsible, with the Branch Manager/ Deputy Registered Manager/Shift Leader, in relation to all Health and Safety matters, ensuring at all times the service is compliant with Fire regulations and all Health and Safety workplace legislation and procedures detailed in our Health & Safety Policy.
- To prepare and supply quality assurance data, report significant risks and take action to rectify any shortcomings.

- Support people to manage their resources and finances.
- To give practical support to individuals in line with their care plan and policy.
- To ensure that you give the Deputy Registered Manager all receipts, change and any accompanying paperwork before the end of your shift.
- Financial discrepancies must be reported to the Deputy Registered Manager/Branch Manager immediately.
- To keep updated with all financial policy and procedures.
